Reiki Master

As a Reiki practitioner, I act as a conduit for the energy that exists in the world around us and direct that energy towards my clients with the intention for it to serve them. I also use Reiki on rooms, homes, objects, pets, situations, and events in time.

 

What can I expect during a Reiki session?

A typical Reiki session starts with a short consultation where we discuss why you are seeking Reiki/energy work and my philosophy of Reiki. We will also talk about your comfort level with physical, platonic touch (you can choose to not be touched during the session). I use a massage table but do Reiki with seated clients as well. You may choose to remove your shoes but remain clothed. The room is dimly lit and soft, relaxing music plays. After the initial clearing rituals I do around the room, the treatment will start. Everyone’s treatment is a little different, as I try to move intuitively through modalities I feel each client needs that day.

Reiki treatment may include:

• Drumming

• Chanting

• Singing bowls

• Crystals / stones

• Chakra healing

• Symbolic placements

• Dry bathing

• Reiki aura clearing/repair

• Guided meditation

• Cord-cutting

• Ancestral work

• Divination

• Reiki blessing of gratitude

 

What is the scientific basis for energy work and Reiki?

I believe that science and Reiki are synergistic. The more I learn about one, the more powerful the other becomes for me. I could (and often do) wax poetic on the subject. But, for the sake of simplicity, the most basic scientific understanding of Reiki is it allows your body to enter the rest and repair state. As humans, we are terrible at this. Reiki is a simple and gentle way to get to that place.

 

Is Reiki associated with dark spirits or the occult?

No. Energy is just energy, and it exists all around us and through us and is us. Reiki is just focusing on the energy in such a way as to be present in the moment and to set an intention to rest and heal. I suppose it would be possible to use that energy for dark designs, but I strongly believe that any choice for light and grace would automatically overpower that and make it a futile endeavor. I do not have the power or the intention to override free will.

 

Do you teach Reiki?

Yes! As a Reiki Master, I am certified through The International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) to teach all levels of Reiki. I even offer a kids’ course. You can find my class schedule here.
 

Do you ever offer free sessions? 

I believe that Reiki should be available to everyone. However, I also know that we place a higher value on things we sacrifice for, so I do ask for an in-kind donation or trade for services. Contact me if you want to set up an exchange.
